Brigitte / Franz Kowanz / Graf

Kowanz studied at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna 1975-80. Light is the medium, subject and basis of her wall works, objects and installations. By combining and exploring various media, she creates new ephemeral and dynamic ways of working and innovative relationships between artwork, space and viewer. (MUMOK)

Graf studied at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna with Oswald Oberhuber and worked closely with Brigitte Kowanz from 1979 to 1984. From 1997 to 2006 he was a visiting professor at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts. Graf works with different media and materials such as abstract, ornamental and figurative drawings, literary found texts, single letters and words or found objects from which he designs chains of abstraction and association.

Discover the almost 1,200 works in our constantly growing collection in our online database. In the future, the collection will be expanded primarily through the purchases of current contemporary art associated with the art prizes. However, the jury will also recommend annual purchases to the Board of Directors to supplement the existing holdings of recent Tyrolean art history.
