Michael Schneider

*1967   lives and works in Vienna and Landeck

He studied printmaking at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna under Maximilian Melcher 1987-91. Monbusho Scholarship at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music 1993-97. Schneider specialises in woodcuts and is a pioneer of polymer photogravure and non-toxic printmaking in Austria. Since 2005 he has been expanding printmaking in the direction of music and performance, in collaboration with the musicians Barbara Romen and Gunter Schneider.

Discover the almost 1,200 works in our constantly growing collection in our online database. In the future, the collection will be expanded primarily through the purchases of current contemporary art associated with the art prizes. However, the jury will also recommend annual purchases to the Board of Directors to supplement the existing holdings of recent Tyrolean art history.
