Klaus Stephan

*1964   lives and works in Vienna

He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna 1982-86. Worked in film and video 1990-93. Karl Rössing Award from the Rupertinum, Salzburg 1999. Stephan uses classic genres such as landscape painting, full-length portraits and still lifes to intensify everyday feelings of solitude and menace to create scenarios loaded with tension.
