Even during her lifetime, Emmy Klocker pursued the desire to have her own museum for the art collection, which comprises around 1,200 works. After years of searching for a suitable location, in 2020 an agreement was reached with the city of Hall in Tyrol on the premises of the former Galerie Goldener Engl. The new appearance of the museum is due to the architects Scharfetter.Rier and Max Schönherr, who have created a modern and appropriate atmosphere, both for the presentation of the collection as well as for the temporary exhibition and the Art Box.
Exhibition I
In the exhibition space of just under 250 square metres, the walls run along the newly constructed ramp and thus define the tour through the exhibition. The relics of the historic crane in the entrance area have been preserved and the bay window of the original building can still be seen through a window opening.
Exhibition II
In the room, which is steeped in history and creates a very special atmosphere due to the impressive wooden roof truss, about 150 square metres of space are available for exhibitions. The room was connected to the first exhibition room via a ramp suitable for the disabled. In the course of the renovation work, two walls were positioned in the room in order to gain more space for hanging. The historic roof truss remained unchanged and the wooden floorboards were only sanded and oiled.
Art Box
The Art Box is a brand new area of the museum, for the design of which the Klocker Foundation has created its own scholarship. Young emerging artists and recent graduates of academies and art schools are given the opportunity to develop a concept for the showcase in the course of a four-week artist residency. The space is not accessible to visitors, but can only be viewed from the outside through the six floor-to-ceiling windows.
