Claudia Hirtl

*1954   lives and works in Vienna

Hirtl studied at the Instituto Statale D 'Arte Urbino, the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts, Paris, the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna, and the Tokyo National University of Arts and Music. Hirtl continued this intercultural process of East and West and practices it in a translation process in order to re-locate images and terms and to question language as an expression of human condition and its conventional self-evidence. Hirtl brings together painterly abstraction and Japanese writing.
