Eva Schlegel
*1960 lives and works in Vienna
She studied at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna under Oswald Oberhuber 1979-85. Professor for Art and Photography at the the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna 1997-2006, and curated the Austrian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. The pivotal idea in Schlegel's work is the contrast between material and ephemeral, which she places in various contexts. She experiments with techniques such as photography, video, graphite, varnish and lead, and combines her works with architecture, installation and interventions.
