Hermann Nitsch

*1938   lives and works in Prinzendorf on the Zaya

Nitsch participated in Viennese Actionism. In the early 1960s the Orgien Mysterien Theater began. It includes painting, architecture, music, sacrificial rituals and the liturgy. Nitsch's abstract pour paintings, just like his performances, establish the theme of controlled violence and simulate organic mutilation.
