In his work Maurmair focuses on the unremarkable, he shows us details we tend to overlook in everyday life. He tells us profound stories, now and then political, mostly humorous, always poetical. The works of art present themselves in a very complex way: intermedial media-installations, sculptures, performances, videos, but also graphics. Roland Maurmair’s art feels like an experiment between instinct and intellect, science and poetry, it is always touching.
