Lovis Corinth

He studied from 1876 at the Academy of Arts in Königsberg under Otto Günther, from 1880 at the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich. Corinth's painterly practice, initially very dark and influenced by Greek and Roman mythology, developed into a bright, impasto of paint with powerful brushwork.
