Hubert Scheibl

*1952   lives and works in Vienna

He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna under Max Weiler and Arnulf Rainer 1976-81. Initially part of the ‘Neue Wilde’, whose large-format paintings are characterised by a gestural and abstract painting style in intense colours, Scheibl was already displaying a tendency towards monochrome, which over the course of time developed into a noticeably more quiet and meditative signature style.
