Markus Prachensky

*1932   +2011  

He studied architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna from 1952, and painting from 1953. In the 1960s, Prachensky was a founder of the St. Stephan group, centred around Monsignore Mauer. Markus Prachensky joked that his monumental abstract paintings were a ‘journey into the colour red’.
