Gfader studied architecture and graduated in 2001 with Prof. Stefano de Martino at the University of Innsbruck. He was involved in painting from an early age and became a member of the Tyrolean Artists' Association, receiving prizes from the provincial capital of Innsbruck and the Förderpreis für zeitgenössische Kunst Tirol. Gfader's works show a gestural, wild, performative painting process through which the pictures condense into abstract colour spaces.
